Elegant Island Living acquires Due South Publishing’s visitor publications – Welcome to the GOLDEN ISLES in-room hotel guest book and GOLDEN ISLES Pocket Guide
Effective today, Elegant Island Living is the new owner of both the Welcome to the GOLDEN ISLES in-room hotel visitor book and GOLDEN ISLES Pocket Guide. Both publications target the tourist market in the Golden Isles and provide the perfect complementary fit to the leading local publication in our area – Elegant Island Living.
Some know that David Butler, owner of Elegant Island Living, and Mack Sullivan, owner of Due South Publishing, Inc., both grew up in Epworth and are lifelong friends. But few know that in 2003, David and Mack worked together on the creation of the Welcome to the GOLDEN ISLES in- room book, an annually-produced hardcover visitor book that resides year-round on the coffee tables in hotel rooms throughout St. Simons Island and Jekyll Island. Mack went on to build Due South Publishing, Inc. around this visitor book, publishing 16 consecutive annual issues, and along the way added GOLDEN ISLES Pocket Guide into the mix. Both publications are targeted directly at the Golden Isles tourist market. During this same 16-year period, David focused on the monthly lifestyle magazine, Elegant Island Living, developing it into an area icon, which focuses primarily on community members, businesses and other organizations, shopping, dining, and local events. So, combining our area’s two iconic visitor publications with the standalone local lifestyle publication, Elegant Island Living, is a perfect fit. It is also only right that when Mack decided to sell his publications, David Butler would be the one to purchase them.
David says of the acquisition, “Mack has done a terrific job developing these two publications. They have become a staple for people visiting this area and offer an elegance in the quality of their design and a usefulness in their content, which we believe will fit nicely with what we do at Elegant Island Living. The entire team at Elegant Island Living is excited to add Welcome to the GOLDEN ISLES in-room hotel visitor book and GOLDEN ISLES Pocket Guide to our offerings, and we will do everything we can to nurture and grow them. Mack has set the stage for that nicely, and we are excited to get started on the 2020 editions.”
