To honor the enduring legacy of former Head of School Ellen Fleming, Frederica Academy has

named its long Middle School academic building "Fleming Hall" as a companion to Benefield Hall, the accompanying Middle School building named after co-founders, Tiggie and Dewey Benefield, who were special friends and fervent supporters of Miss Fleming. With the blessing of Miss Fleming's family, signage was added to Fleming Hall in her memory, and her portrait and a commemorative plaque will be unveiled at a formal dedication ceremony planned for the next May Day celebration. In addition, the FA Board of Trustees established the Ellen E. Fleming Middle School Memorial Fund. Contributions to the fund are used to make important improvements to the Middle School academic buildings, which will continue to significantly enhance the overall learning and daily life experience for Middle School students and faculty.
