Hospice of the Golden Isles has launched a new initiative to support the ongoing professional development of Registered Nurses (RNs) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) in Georgia. This initiative marks a significant milestone in the community nonprofit organization's commitment to fostering excellence in healthcare and enhancing the skills of its dedicated staff.
Hospice of the Golden Isles now offers in-service programs covering various clinical, psychosocial, and spiritual topics. Current in-service programs offered are: Death and Dying, Dyspnea with Advanced Illness, Hospice Care Overview, Hospice Levels of Care, Managing End-of-Life Issues, Nutrition and Fluids for the Dying Individual, Addressing Opioid Anxiety, Pain Management Principles, and Advanced Pain Management Principles. Their credentialed staff present these professional development courses in a setting most convenient to their healthcare partners at their facility or the Hospice of the Golden Isles campus, which results in Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for RNs and LPNs at little or no cost.
“Hospice of the Golden Isles is excited to share our expertise with our community partners through these training modules,” said Paula DiLandro, Executive Director of Hospice of the Golden Isles. “These modules are specifically focused on the most common areas of concern. The goal is to ensure we are collectively providing the highest quality of care to those at the end of life, regardless of the care setting.”
In addition to benefiting the organization's nursing staff, this initiative aligns with Hospice of the Golden Isles' broader mission to contribute positively to the overall healthcare landscape within the community. By promoting professional excellence, the organization hopes to set a standard for quality hospice care and inspire others in the healthcare industry to prioritize ongoing education.
Hospice of the Golden Isles is a 501(c) 3 community-based, non-profit organization serving patients in Glynn, Camden, McIntosh, Brantley, and Charlton counties and a leading provider of compassionate end-of-life care. Hospice provides care for the body, mind, and spirit. It focuses on expert pain and symptom management and improving quality of life for patients with life-limiting illnesses.
