United Way Volunteer of the Year 2014
The United Way of Coastal Georgia recently presented Jack C. Kilgore, president of the Consumer Brands Division of Rich Products Corporation, with its highest accolade – the 2014 Glynn County Volunteer of the Year award.
“This year’s volunteer honoree was elected by a landslide,” said Dana Haza, president and CEO, United Way of Coastal Georgia. “Jack Kilgore’s selection is the result of an overwhelming community response. We received many, many messages of recommendation for him – I believe a record number. There very quickly was no doubt about who is Glynn County’s most-deserving volunteer this time around. The results were unanimous.”
Kilgore has worked in the Golden Isles community for more than 35 years as a leader within Rich’s, one of the world’s largest family-owned food companies and a leading global supplier to the foodservice, in-store bakery, retail and industrial marketplaces. He currently is co-leader of Rich’s U.S./Canada Region, with primary responsibility for the Consumer Brands Division, Canada Division, and the company’s global Quality Assurance/Regulatory Compliance function.
Kilgore has a long and outstanding history of giving back to the community where he lives and works. He has held various leadership positions with the American Cancer Society and has served on the boards of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce and the Brunswick-Golden Isles Chamber of Commerce. He is a current board member and past chairman of Communities in Schools of Glynn County and he co-chairs the Graduation Blueprint Implementation Commission for United Way. He is on the board of trustees of the College of Coastal Georgia Foundation and serves on the board of directors for South Coast Bank & Trust of Glynn County. He also was recently named to the board of directors for the St. Simons Land Trust.
“As our 2014 Glynn County United Way Volunteer of the Year, Jack epitomizes the philanthropic spirit – giving of his time and resources and advocating for those less fortunate,” said Haza. “Even in those moments when he is mentoring professionally, he makes sure volunteerism is part of the learning, because he knows what a valuable lesson it is for our future. For all of us here at United Way, it has been an honor to partner with Jack and to learn from him, as we make real the vision of enhanced growth for our community and its citizens.”
Jack is a 1972 graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial management. An avid golfer, Kilgore resides on St. Simons Island with his wife, Brenda, where they are active members of St. Simons Community Church. They have two grown daughters and three grandchildren.
