Seasons Change - Bettina Rusher
A vibrant new organization dedicated to the support and promotion of contemporary and abstract art across the state of Georgia is officially being launched in the Golden Isles. The Contemporary Art Alliance of Georgia (CAAGA) brings together both 2D and 3D artists, offering them a platform to grow, connect, and showcase their work within the local community, regional area, and beyond.
CAAGA was founded by President Bettina Dickson Rusher with a clear mission: to establish a thriving community where the practice of contemporary and modern art is not only encouraged but also actively supported. Through fellowship, education, and the exploration of creative techniques and processes, the organization aims to cultivate artists as well as expand public awareness of contemporary and modern art through exhibitions and educational programs. CAAGA seeks to enhance and grow the presence of contemporary art in our community. Kevin Pullen acts as advisor to the group
Two levels of membership are currently offered: Sustaining Artists and Associate Artists. Sustaining Artists receive full access to all of the organization’s resources, including participation in open studios, critique sessions, and exclusive exhibitions. Associate Artists, while enjoying a more limited set of benefits, are encouraged to grow their skills and presence within the community.
In addition to enhancing and growing the presence of contemporary and modern art in Georgia and beyond, CAAGA has other primary objectives as well. It aims to use the collective strength of its members to support artists in the development of their artistic pursuits. The organization will also strive to provide educational opportunities that foster growth and innovation in contemporary art.
The official launch event for CAAGA will be a private, invitation-only art soirée on November 14, where attendees will have the opportunity to view a selection of artwork from all CAAGA members in the elegant setting of a private residence on St. Simons Island. CAAGA’s first public exhibit will take place at Anderson Fine Art Gallery Studio on 100 Sylvan Drive, St. Simons Island, from Thursday, December 12 through Sunday, December 15, and will be open for viewing from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily. Everyone is invited to attend the opening reception for the public exhibit on Thursday, December 12 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. This event will be a significant milestone for the organization as it introduces its members’ work to a broader audience.
