Bring One for the Chipper Now at the Coast Guard Station
to
East Beach at the Old Coast Guard Station First Street, Saint Simons Island, Georgia
A Golden Isles holiday tradition continues with Keep Golden Isles Beautiful’s annual Bring One for the Chipper Christmas tree recycling campaign. On January 5, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., volunteers will be on hand to assist with non-artificial tree drop-offs at the Old Coast Guard Station beach parking lot on St. Simons Island (please note this is a new location!) and in Brunswick at The Home Depot, Howard Coffin Park, and the New Jesup Highway Winn Dixie parking lot. Participants depositing Christmas trees on this day will receive veggie seeds and a tree sapling. Christmas tree recycling programs like Bring One for the Chipper support eco-friendly holiday efforts and Chipper trees will be recycled into biofuel, mulch and fish habitats. Last year, Bring One for the Chipper collected and recycled 1,308 trees in the Golden Isles. For additional drop off locations and information, visit kgib.org.
