]Wondering what to do with old electronics, clothes, batteries, prescription drugs, light bulbs, sensitive documents and scrap metal? Bring them to the annual Electronics Recycling and More event on April 23rd, 9am-1pm at Glynn Place Mall’s JCPenney end parking lot.
Organized by Keep Golden Isles Beautiful, this year’s event again includes much more than electronics recycling and on-site paper shredding services. For a $5 suggested donation per automobile, electronics, textile, battery, light bulb and scrap metal recycling, a prescription drug drop-off and on-site paper shredding services will be available. ($20 per TV fee, no console or projection TVs; $5 per CRT (chunky) monitor; no light bulbs over 4’, limit 20 light bulbs per auto; limit 10 boxes of paper to be shredded per auto).
Volunteers will be on hand to unload materials brought to the event for recycling and the event is open rain or shine.
“The 2016 event again accepts a wide variety of items including all types and condition of textiles, electronics, light bulbs, batteries and even large appliances such as washers, dryers and microwaves. The pill drop-off will be manned by the Glynn/Brunswick Narcotics Enforcement Team and allows for the safe disposal of unused or expired pills and prescription drugs, including pet medications,” said Lea King-Badyna, KGIB executive director. “We are excited to offer this great recycling opportunity to the general public as part of the Great America Cleanup, the country’s largest community improvement program engaging more than 4 million volunteers in over 20,000 communities nationwide.”
“Many community partners and volunteers come together to make the Electronics Recycling & More event happen,” said KGIB board chairman Creg Miller. “Golden Isles residents and our coastal environment are the beneficiaries of this massive collaboration, and we thank all who participate and are involved.”
The annual event again partners with the GreenScene EcoFair that takes place on the same day inside of the mall from 10am-2pm. “As we celebrate EarthDay, we are pleased to collaborate with the EcoFair in a great day of sustainable living education and experiences,” said King-Badyna. “The two events combined offer the public a comprehensive sustainable living learning opportunity right here at home.”
