Paul Pressly “A Southern Underground Railroad” Book Talk and Signing

Paul M. Pressly will speak about and sign his latest book, A Southern Underground Railroad: Black Georgians and the Promise of Spanish Florida and Indian Country.
Pressly, the director of the Ossabaw Island Education Alliance, has previously edited or contributed to several books about Coastal Georgia, including Coastal Nature, Coastal Culture: Environmental Histories of the Georgia Coast and African American Life in the Georgia Lowcountry: The Atlantic World and the Gullah Geechee. He will speak about his latest work, A Southern Underground Railroad, which spans the period from the beginning of the Revolutionary War to 1817, showing how a steady stream of enslaved people found freedom outside the boundaries of the new United States.
The program will be held at 6 p.m. at the A.W. Jones Heritage Center. The newest book will be available for purchase and signing onsite following the program. Admission is free of charge, and registration is required by visiting coastalgeorgiahistory.org.
