USS Constitution in Boston Harbor after Reconstruction
The Coastal Georgia Historical Society has presented the Chautauqua Lecture Series for more than 20 years and the program continues to be among the Society's most popular and enriching community traditions.
The 2014 series, “Before the Crash: Coastal Georgia and American Icons of the 1920s,” is inspired by Bill Bryson’s latest bestselling book, One Summer: America, 1927. Noted experts and authors will explore the cultural history of the Roaring Twenties and connections between coastal Georgia and some of the period's most intriguing stories, with topics including Charles Lindbergh, Howard Coffin, the USS Constitution, and Calvin Coolidge. Lectures will take place every Thursday in August at 6 p.m. at the A.W. Jones Heritage Center.
The cost for the series is $30 for members and $75 for non-members. Registration is required for all attendees. To register, call 912-634-7090, or email cherndon@saintsimonslighthouse.org.
