Charlie Wharton
Charlie Wharton began Starfire Designs with a vision of bringing artistic creations to the jewelry world. He began working in the fashion industry more than 25 years ago as a menswear consultant. When he later changed his focus to womenswear, Charlie decided to add jewelry to his repertoire, using his college background as an art major. Charlie’s wife, Jean, suggested instead of featuring finished pieces that he design and create new pieces to delight his customers.
Inspired by the art of Egyptian wire wrapping, Charlie has been creating beautiful pieces of Starfire jewelry that are each adorned with the artistic crown which has become his signature. Charlie hand selects his stones and designs every piece in order to ensure that his customers and collectors receive nothing less than the very best jewelry imaginable. Over the years, the line has grown to include pendants, collars, bracelets, rings, and earrings.
Starfire Designs carries all the latest jewelry trends and is constantly changing to ensure its customers have the newest and most unique choices. This season, Charlie is excited to offer Egyptian Pyramid pendants. The Pyramid pendant is a fabulous addition to any wardrobe. They also take heirloom jewelry and create a new and unique design to mix vintage and modern tastes.
Starfire does not have a flagship store to carry its name, instead has partnered with stores across the country to feature its jewelry. Charlie and Jean still ply the highways, visiting specific retailers with whom he has forged relationships, staging exclusive trunk shows around the country. Traveling to stores offers Charlie and his wife variety and the opportunity to meet interesting people from all over. They have fallen in love with the cities and towns they have visited during their trips and St. Simons Island is one of their favorite places.
