Preparations for the September 7 Candlelight Carnival at Frederica Golf Club on St. Simons Island are well underway as you can see by the slideshow here. A visit to the Golden Isles Career Academy this week revealed a school bustling with activity and students and staff working hard to get things ready for the event. Mr. Neeld's Graphic Design class was hard at work preparing signs and printed materials for the games and other activities at the event. These students have been a key part of the process since Day 1, event designing the Candlelight Carnival logo. Mr. O'Quinn's construction classes are putting in the man hours to get the carnival booths built. We can't wait for you to see how amazing everything looks! Mr. Curry's welding class was working on a firepit that will be a prize at the event. Some lucky carnival guest will be able to take it home just in time for cooler nights and backyard football parties. David Butler and Rick Townsend had the chance to stop by WGIG 1440 to visit with Scott Ryfun on the air and do some promotional spots for the event on the radio. Behind the scenes, the committee members are meeting to finalize event details, drum up sponsorships, soliciting items for live and silent auctions and raffles at the event, and spreading the word about ticket sales. Remember, only 175 tickets will be sold, so if you're planning to attend, you need to purchase your tickets online today! See you at the Frederica Boathouse on Saturday, September 7!
