Because our website calendar doesn't like events that last more than a day and often fails to display them properly, we're going to keep a running list of ART EXHIBITIONS & EVENTS right here with "Artie," the paint-splattered pooch as our mascot. Scroll through to see ongoing displays at our local galleries, followed by special art events we have listed by date.

Glynn Visual Arts - 106 Island Drive
January 7-February 7: “Art of Serendipity” from well-known local watercolorist Deborah Jinkins will be on display in the Portman Gallery at Glynn Visual Arts. Opening Reception: Thursday, January 9, 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Jinkins’ portrayal of coastal birds, sea life, florals and the natural landscape is often described as realistic with a touch of whimsy. “The personality of a swan, the complexity of flower petals, or the attitude of a pelican all become spaces for the viewer to rest,” said Jinkins. The vibrant colors and saturation in her work is a signature style for Jinkins. A roseate spoonbill, blue crabs, palms and hibiscus seem to leap off the canvas into the room.
Jinkins began painting in watercolors when she took lessons from longtime GVA instructor and St. Simons Island resident Lynn St. Clair in 2011. Since then, Jinkins’ work has been held in private and corporate collections across the country. Her many affiliations include GVA, the Kentucky, Georgia and Southern Watercolor Societies, and the Georgia Coastal Artists Guild.
