Making an appearance by Skype after a late night pitching against the Cubs, St. Louis Cardinal ace and St. Simons Island hometown boy, Adam Wainwright, with wife, Jenny, at his side, announced the founding of the Adam & Jenny Wainwright Family Foundation. He addressed a room filled with the community's top leaders and movers and shakers. Mother Nancy Parrish Wainwright spoke to begin the luncheon at the King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort and remarked how she "had never seen so many community leaders in one place" since moving to the Golden Isles in 1973. She said that was an incredible tribute to her family.
After a brief, yet moving, video presentation of Adam sharing his inspiring story and his motivation for starting the foundation, Adam and Jenny greeted guests via Skype and shared their vision. The bottom line is that Adam wants to do more, to give back more, to make a difference in our community and in the world. He wants to make sure that basic needs like clean water, food, and shelter are provided wherever needed. Now he turns to us as a community and asks for our help in realizing his goals, by sponsoring the Benefit Weekend, volunteering, or spreading the word.
The Benefit Weekend on December 12 and 13 will include a Honky Tonk Gala for adults at the King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort on Friday night, followed by a benefit concert on Saturday at Glynn County Stadium. Scheduled to appear are country music superstar and Grand Ole Opry member Dierks Bentley and country's newest rising star Thomas Rhett.
Sponsorship opportunities are now available and ticket sale information will be announced soon, with local not-for-profits benefiting from sales. This promises to be an amazing event and an incredible opportunity for our community.
